How to wear a Utility Jacket, and where to get one.

I'm in love!  Yes, with my husband and kids.  But I'm ALSO in love with a look this fall.
And it is . . . THE UTILITY JACKET!  I'll admit I've always had an eye for the army look.  In high school I went to an Army surplus store looking for a cool jacket or bags, so it's no surprise that I'm loving this look.

But how to wear them, what to pair them with, and where to get them can stop you from trying them out.  I've done the leg work for you, so read on and then try one yourself!

How to wear a utility jacket:  (Yes, you can get a lot of wear with these!)

1. Wear it with stripes.  White and navy blue stripes look A-mazing with a utility jacket, be it a dress or shirt.

*Notice how the shirt is tucked in?  This is one of my favorite little touches to an outfit.

2.  Wear it with your comfiest t-shirt.   This is a personal favorite!

3.  Wear it with a long-sleeved shirt underneath, roll both sleeves up.
(Excuse the photo quality - I hurried and snapped this so I could give you an example.)

4. Wear it with a dress.  The bright color is extra fun!

5. And last of all, DRESS IT UP!  Don't forget to add a necklace or bracelet.  It doesn't have to be fancy, and you do NOT need to break the bank.  My favorite is Forever 21.  They have seriously cute accessories in the $5.00 range.  And jewlery can add so much to an outfit.  At the moment I'm in to long, dangly necklaces that are simple and gold.  But stick to what you love.

Another way I love to dress up this look is with animal print.  It can be shoes, a bag/clutch, or a belt.  I love the animal print look with this jacket.

So now, where can you buy one?  I've looked around for you and found some of the best prices for the cutest utility jackets (in my opinion).  Here they are:

CHARLOTTE RUSSE -
I like the drawstring around the waist, it keeps it a bit fitted.

H&M
You can always count on H&M!  This jacket has four pockets on the front, and is really, really cute!

FOREVER 21
Here is the one I stuck with, simply because it was easy to find and on the cheaper end of the price scale.

AMERICAN EAGLE
From American Eagle, this one is a touch pricier. Unless there is something you absolutely love about this one, I would stick with a cheaper version.  Like, say, the next one that I got from Forever 21. ;-)

I hope this helps point you in the direction you need to find yourself a great fall and winter jacket!  Let me know if you get one, and share photos!  I always love to see how people create their own outfits.
